The most effective way to ensure that survey respondents answer truthfully is to instruct them that you can identify them by the answers that they give.
When ordering survey questions, it is best to start with non-threatening questions (such as questions about gender and age) and then move toward questions that may be more intimidating (such as questions about drug and alcohol use).
Compound questions are an ideal way of getting answers to two questions at one time.
Pilot testing is the process of having survey experts (researchers) review your survey to determine whether it has been properly designed.

Definitely False Probably False Probably True Definitely True
The preferred number of participants in a focus group is 8 to 12.
Focus groups can be conducted with any group of people, regardless of their similarities, differences, or connection to each other.
Analysis of focus group data should be done by people other than those who lead/facilitated the groups.
Open-ended questions are best suited to focus groups and key informant interviews, while closed-ended questions are best suited to surveys.
